Face Veneer Grading Norms

We follow the Standard Grading Norms of GSEZ Wood and Veneer Association (NKOK, Liberville, Gabon) for our Okoume Face Veneer.
C/C Grade	GTI refers this grade as A Grade
Open Splits	Not Allowed
Head Crack	Head Crack Allowed
Discolour	Natural Discolour partially allowed
Live Knots	Live Knots / Eye allowed any number
Dead Knots	Not Allowed
Pin Borer	Not Allowed
Cutter Borer	Not Allowed
Chain Borer	Not Allowed
Face Jali	Not Allowed

D Grade	GTI refers this grade as B Grade
Open Splits	“C” Grade sheet with Minor Split allowed
Head Crack	Head Crack is allowed
Discolour	Natural Discolour allowed to any extent
Live Knots	Live Knots / Eye allowed any number
Dead Knots	01/02 very minor dead knot allowed; but if whole sheet is having no defect, then ONE coin size hole will be allowed.
Pin Borer	Pin borer allowed upto only few numbers per sheet. Allowed 10%-15% of total surface area of face leaf.
Cutter Borer	Generally cutter/s are not allowed but if face is clean, then 02-03 numbers of 1/2” long are allowed per sheet.
Chain Borer	Chain Borer not allowed.
Face Jali	10% allowed, if face leaf is of good colour and having no other defects.

D2 Grade	GTI refers this grade as C Grade
Edge Cracks	Allowed to any extent
Discolour	Natural Discolour allowed to any extent, white discolour allowed to any extent.
Dead Knots	02 to 03 numbers of dead knot, or even hole of diameter of Tennis Ball size is allowed per sheet.
Pin Borer	Pin borer allowed.
Cutter Borer	Allowed.
Chain Borer	Allowed.
Face Jali	Allowed.

D3 Grade	GTI refers this grade as D Grade
Edge Cracks	Allowed to any extent.
Discolour	Natural Discolour allowed to any extent, white discolour allowed to any extent.
Live Knots	Live Knots allowed any number.
Dead Knots	03 to 05 numbers of dead knot, or even hole of upto 6.0 inch diameter is allowed per sheet.
Pin Borer	Pin borer allowed.
Cutter Borer	Allowed.
Chain Borer	Allowed.
Face Jali	Allowed.
